01. Overview

The Frosting Bar is a boutique bakery specializing in custom cakes, cupcakes, and dessert tables for events such as birthdays, weddings, and baby showers. I led the website redesign project as the UI/UX and web designer, handling everything from planning to execution. Using Figma for wireframing and visual design, and Wix Studio for development, the project was completed in approximately 4 weeks.

The primary objective was to elevate the bakery’s online presence with a website that felt as whimsical and inviting as their products. The redesign needed to merge visual storytelling with clear functionality for both desktop and mobile users.

02. Problem

03. Design

The original website lacked the charm and clarity needed to represent The Frosting Bar’s brand effectively. Visually, it felt generic and outdated, and the navigation was not intuitive, making it difficult for users to understand how to place an order or learn about the available services.

The client’s primary goal was to transform the website into a visually appealing, functional space that could reflect their creative energy and drive more customer engagement. The bakery’s target audience includes event planners, parents, and dessert enthusiasts looking for personalized, beautifully designed baked goods. The biggest issues were the lack of visual hierarchy, minimal product showcasing, and weak call-to-action placement, all of which contributed to low user engagement.

To address these challenges, I implemented a complete visual overhaul focused on clean structure and elegant playfulness. The new design featured a pastel-themed color palette, spacious layout, and modern typography that aligned with the bakery’s brand identity.

I reorganized the website into distinct sections—highlighting categories like custom orders, event dessert tables, and popular products—while also adding an inquiry form to streamline customer communication. The homepage was redesigned to act as a visual introduction, using imagery, customer testimonials, and featured treats to guide users intuitively through the site. Inspiration was drawn from editorial layouts and lifestyle brands to maintain a balance between beauty and functionality.

04. Solution & Results

The redesigned website received highly positive feedback from both the client and their customers. The improved layout and clearer navigation helped increase the number of custom order inquiries and made it easier for users to browse through offerings.

The client shared that the new site “finally feels like us,” reflecting the personality and quality of their brand in a way the old site never did. Site visitors found the interface more engaging and reported a smoother experience, particularly when using the site on mobile devices.

The project demonstrated how important visual consistency and user-centered structure are for building trust and encouraging interaction. This experience reinforced my understanding of how strategic design can directly impact customer engagement and business growth.
